How You Are More Than Your Addiction with Jesus Devotional Series
Addiction has become so prevalent. When we think of addictions, we may just think of alcohol or drug addiction. But, there are many addictions. Addictions to food, nicotine, drugs, or even TV. It can be scary when our addiction becomes our Idol. Things we give more attention and time to over God is considered an idol. The Bible calls us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength in the book of Mark.
“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.” Mark 12:30
When we are constantly seeking fulfillment through our addiction, instead of fulfillment from God, it leads to feelings of guilt, depression, and anxiety. These can quickly take away the joy God has bestowed upon us and interfere with our walk with the Lord .
Addiction can be significant and only God can help you conquer something that takes such a hold on you. I will be doing an addiction series over time with statistics and facts to give those who struggle with addiction or those who have loved ones struggling, a better understanding of how it changes their brain chemistry and the effects it has as a whole. No matter what, never forget you are MORE than your disease.
Reflection:
What are you giving the majority of your time to? Are you living with addiction? Are your thoughts consumed with thoughts from above, or are addictions and idols taking your attention away from what truly matters?
Prayer:
Dear God, we thank you today for bringing all of us here together to support and uplift one another. We ask that you bless and deliver all of those struggling with addictions and idols, and for you to reveal to us idols we may not realize we have. Lord, we thank you that Your word guides us in how we should live our lives. Father, we ask today that you help us to live more Christ-like and to help us keep You and Your will at the forefront of our thoughts and actions.
Amen.

All proceeds will go to maintaining and growing our outreach to reach as many lost souls as we can. As well as, assisting, giving, and volunteering within the community to help those less fortunate. All of this isn’t possible without you. I ask if God places it on your heart to give, to pray over it, and give with a joyful heart knowing it will be helping grow His kingdom. More than ever Christians need the support of fellow believers.
