How to Give Your Anxiety and Lean on God Devotional Series
Cast your cares on Him.
As a Christian, it can be difficult to experience anxiety. I have struggled with anxiety since childhood. But, learning how to lean on God during those moments is so important.
Seek Solitude. Pray. Reconnect
Many times in the Bible Jesus seeks out solitude. He then prays and reconnects with our Father. When these feelings of anxiety come on, try to find somewhere to be alone even for a short moment to reconnect with God. We will always face trials and tribulations, but that doesn’t mean we are alone.
It makes me think of this amazing Jason Crabb song, ‘Through The Fire’ when he says:
“He never promised that the cross would not get heavy and the hills would not be hard to climb. He never offered our victories without fighting. But he said help would always come in time. Just remember when you’re standing in the valley of decision, and the adversary says “give in”. Just hold on Our Lord will show up and He will take you through the fire again!”
Through the Fire-Jason Crabb
This song helps me remember, it’s okay to not be okay. God is always here. He will always be there to take us through the fire again.
Thinking back to the previous feelings of anxiety or panic attacks, did you pause and pray amid the chaos? Or, did you let the chaos consume you? I challenge you next time to find somewhere that you can take a quick breather and cast your cares on God.
Dear God, I know in this world we try to control everything, even though You are the only one in control. Lord help us to cast our cares and anxiety on You as you tell us to in Your Word. Help us to not be consumed by things we cannot control. Help us to relinquish our fears to you. Lord, I know you are in control and this fear and anxiety I feel is nothing in the presence of your power.
