Daily Prayer for a Grateful Heart
Gratitude: the state of being grateful; thankfulness.
Dead Lord,
I come to you today to give thanks. All too often I focus on my problems and put so much emphasis on them, instead of putting the emphasis on how great You are. Our problems are nothing to You. We should always give thanks to You in prayer and today I come to you with my gratitude.
I’m beyond grateful for everything you’ve done and all that you have blessed my life with. The very breath in my lungs is a blessing from you. None of us are promised tomorrow and for each day we are here we have something to celebrate and to be grateful for.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says that we should give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Regardless of the circumstances, help me to remember to consistently give thanks to you. Because you are good, holy, and righteous. You have given us the gift of eternal life for all of us who believe in you.
Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it“. Every day is a day that you have made. I want to rejoice evermore and be glad in it. Whenever complaints or grumbles come out of my mouth help me to remember what your word says as I desire to live by your word and your word alone.
You go on and Psalm 136:1 to say, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever“. I give thanks to you for how good you are and all of your faithfulness. We worship singing how great is thy faithfulness, how great is your faithfulness indeed. The fact that your love is steadfast and that it endures forever is more than enough to be grateful for.
Help me to start each day with a grateful heart remembering your promises and your will from my life at all times. I will do everything I can to go on from this day forward never forgetting to give thanks in prayer and always keeping a grateful heart and mindset.
Thank you for everything as everything that I have is from you. Everything that I own belongs to you, and if it all were to go away tomorrow, I would still have so much to be grateful for because no matter what I have you.
And your word tells me that:
I am chosen.
I am loved.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
I am dead to myself and alive to the power of God.
Because you sit on the throne now and forever, I will always be grateful and in a state of gratitude.
Though there will be times when my circumstances may be tough, I will stay grateful as I know you will never abandon me.
In your name, I pray,
Amen
