Daily Prayer to Forgive Others
Daily Prayer to Forgive Others
Dear Lord,
I come to you today seeking your strength to forgive those who have hurt or wronged me. Your Word speaks so much about forgiveness, and I know holding onto any unforgiveness and bitterness is toxic to my soul. Matthew 6 says, “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
I come to you to let go of all the unforgiveness I have held in my heart. I forgive any family, friends, loved ones, and those from my past that I have held onto unforgiveness towards. Any bitterness I have, I ask you to take it away. And, I surrender all my feelings of unforgiveness toward them. Bring to my mind any unforgiveness I am holding onto that I may not even realize.
Your Word tells us to love each other just as You have loved us. We cannot truly love one another while holding onto unforgiveness. Mark 11:25 says, “But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.”
Help me to surrender any grudges I have held against others so that I may be forgiven too. The enemy would love for me to stay in a state of bitterness, unforgiveness, and hate toward those I am called to love. To serve you I must have forgiveness in my heart and soul. I want to walk in the spirit, and not my flesh. Walking in the Spirit gives me the strength to forgive when the world tells me I should hold onto the unforgiveness.
A verse I want to keep at the forefront of my mind is Colossians 3:13. “Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”
We all have faults and have all fallen short of the glory of God. Lend me your strength in making allowances for others’ faults just as I hope others make allowances for mine. Remind me in times I struggle to surrender unforgiveness all that you have forgiven me of. And, because of that, I can forgive those who have sinned against me.
Thank you Lord for setting me free of all the unforgiveness and bitterness that has held me in bondage and prevented me from experiencing the true peace and joy you offer. I surrender all my bitterness and unforgiveness to you.
In Your name I pray,
Amen
