Daily Prayer for Grief

Daily Prayer for Grief

Grief is a tough pill to swallow, and much tougher if not for God and the comfort he provides during seasons of loss. I ask that you all keep my grandmother in your prayers as she battles through a crucial next few days. It has been a tough few years of loss for my family.

My prayer is for God’s will to be done and for comfort for all of her loved ones in the process. I wanted to share this prayer for grief, not only as a reminder for myself, but for all those out there struggling through the stages of grief. Hang on, Jesus is here with you. He hears your cries, and He is here to walk beside you through it.

Daily Prayer for Grief

Dear Lord,
Thank you for all that you have blessed me with. During these seasons of grief, it can be hard to see the good; and blessings I still have in my life. Help me to focus on the good and remember my blessings while I wade through the stages of grief.

I know Heaven is an incredible place that my mind cannot even fathom the joy there compared to here. Guide me into finding comfort knowing that nothing earth has to offer is even close to what is waiting in Heaven for my loved ones. There will be peace, joy, and no more suffering. All the once-aching pains and sufferings will be long gone.

Your Word says weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. And that you are near to the brokenhearted and save the crushed in spirit. I come to you brokenhearted and crushed in spirit; desperately in need of your comforting presence. You know my heart, my thoughts, and my pain. Lord, I ask that Your will be done in this moment and for your comfort in accepting Your will.

Bless me with the peace that surpasses all understanding. Give me an inner stillness to cling to in the moments when I feel my heart breaking. Walk with me through the valley of darkness showing me the path to take and what decisions to make. Place a hedge of protection and strength around me and my loved ones during these dark days.

Help me to keep my faith strong while I struggle with my grief and know that no matter what happens, You are here to pull me through this. Give me comfort for my mourning and reassurance that everything will be okay during my times of doubt.

God, I know anything is possible with You, if it is in Your will, I ask for healing and declare it over my loved ones. But, if it is not in Your will, help me to accept Your will even though I may not understand it right now. Help me to use this to strengthen my faith and to continue drawing nearer to you even when I feel like pulling away from my grief.

In your holy name I pray,

Amen
