Daily Prayer for Wisdom

Dear Lord,

I come to you today seeking wisdom. James tells us if any of us lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. I ask humbly for wisdom and guidance in all areas of my life. You know my struggles and my burdens, bless me with the wisdom and knowledge on how to overcome any obstacle that comes my way.

Proverbs tells us the way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise. I do not wish to be a fool and see things as right when they are not; I wish to be wise and heed counsel. Help me to not let my pride get in the way of accepting your wisdom. 

Endurance and wisdom often come forth from trials; so help me to embrace trials as an opportunity for wisdom and a chance for growth. Above all help me to have a reverent fear of You as Proverbs also says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. I welcome your wisdom and instruction and seek it for my life.

Thank you for your grace and for continuing to provide me with wisdom despite the mistakes that I have made. I humble myself and put my pride to the side as I know I need your wisdom for all the decisions I make. Help me to remember to turn to you first instead of leaning upon my own understanding when making decisions. 

Provide me with wisdom to know when to speak and when to stay silent; when to act and when to be still; and the wisdom to carry out Your will and not mine.

I seek your wisdom above all because…

you say I am Loved.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made. 

I am chosen.

I am dead to myself and alive to the power of God. 

Because you sit on the throne now and forever, I will seek wisdom from above.

I will no longer go forward leaning on my own understanding and instead embrace the gracious wisdom you so kindly offer to those who serve you.
